What the Bonus Score does and does not prove

The score is a deterministic comparison of supplied fields—not hands-on testing, approval or proof that an offer is current.

What does the BonusSherpa score measure?

The US root currently has no eligible offers or scores. Offer scoring returns only in eligible markets. The retained Bonus Score deterministically combines supplied editor rating, bonus-value fields, payout band and licence labels using published weights. Missing components are dropped and remaining weights renormalised. It does not independently verify an operator, promotion, withdrawal speed, licence status or customer outcome, and it is not regulator approval or a recommendation to gamble.

The US root currently shows no commercial cards or scores because it has no eligible offers. Offer scoring returns only when a market has eligible offers. Until then, our editorial method focuses on source quality, reading complete terms and checking calculator arithmetic.

Read the evidence before the number

Use state regulators for rules in their own jurisdiction and US support organizations for gambling-help resources. Record the offer’s current wagering base, multiplier, game contribution, stake limit and expiry. A catalogue field is not independent verification.

Our calculators multiply the stated base by the wagering requirement and adjust for game contribution. For example, a $25 bonus at 10× requires $250 qualifying turnover. These are arithmetic examples, not predictions of winnings or withdrawals. The bonus-value model uses an assumed RTP; actual outcomes vary.

The retained scoring formula

The app’s scoring code assigns 40% to a supplied editor rating, 35% to bonus-value fields, 15% to a supplied payout band and 10% to licence labels. Within bonus value, the code uses numeric wagering, maximum bonus and free-spins fields. It does not read the complete promotion terms.

When an input is absent, the code drops that component and renormalises the remaining weights. A result can therefore be based on fewer than four factors. Zero means no scorable fields were present, not a regulatory risk classification.

Claims the number cannot support

The score does not prove that:

  • a person opened an account, deposited or withdrew;
  • a licence label is current or applies in your jurisdiction;
  • the displayed promotion remains available;
  • the payout band matches your payment method;
  • significant conditions are complete; or
  • a customer will convert a bonus, withdraw or win.

Compare any summary with the operator’s current market-specific terms.

When offer scoring returns

The score uses the supplied factors above. It does not establish that a promotion is available or suitable for a particular player.

If scoring becomes available in your market, treat it as a starting point for further reading. Use our promotion checklist, then make your own budget and eligibility decision.
